I was having a beer with T and Matt, half-celebrating Chris’ birthday, half-eating nachos. I thought that I had lost about thirty bucks from my pockets. I panicked and decided to go back to the variety store that I had bought a lotto ticket from not ten minutes earlier. I thought that maybe I had pulled out my money by accident and dropped it on the ground.
I set out to the convenience store and as I’m walking down the street some douchebag in a car throws an egg at me! Hit me in the leg. I was already upset about losing my money so that made things even worse. I was considering taking my ball and going home but then I realised that I probably deserved it. My friends and I had egged people in the past. Karmic justice I supposed.
I made it to the store and looked around on the ground. No money. I asked the clerk and he looked befuddled. Nope, no money here. God damn it. I lost thirty dollars! I have almost no money so thirty bucks hurt. I asked the teller for some napkins or paper towels and he obliged, and I wiped the egg off of my leg. I walked back to the bar, defeated and annoyed, and pulled out my pack of cigarettes. Some nicotine would help ease the pain. And what do I find stuck in the package? My thirty bones! Success!
I had a couple of beers back at the bar, some nachos, and some fries dipped in gravy. That, my friends, is one filthy meal. I had an apple and a bunch of water when I got home to make up for it.
At the end of the night we left the bar to search for a cab. We were walking down the strip trying to hail a taxi when a fight broke out. Some little guy apparently beat up some slightly bigger guy. He seemed really happy about it but his joy was short-lived. Whoever got beat up came back with his friends and beat the short guy’s friend into a pulp. They knocked him down and kicked him in the head a few times. The police showed up and the guy who did the booting took off like a shot with the cop in tow. I’m not sure if they ever got him.
Shortly afterwards we found a cab and made our way home. Exciting night downtown.
